It was probably PAY-BACK- from the Sister in the laundry
Ha! or maybe it was her and she was involved in some kind of money laundering this time.
just an observation viewing some of their on camera appearances , and their arrogance believing they are the only one`s used by god to reach and teach the people ,despite what gj said at the arc on the subject.. no doubt the gb men wear designer tailor made suits from the best tailors in nys ?
and their wives adequately provided for in a similar way ?
nothing from kmart or target ,walmart or whatever.. shoes are probably made from form fit cobblers to fit the individual ?

Deut 15:17 But if your servant says to you, ‘I do not want to leave you,’ because he loves you and your household and is well off with you, 17 then take an awl and pierce it through his ear into the door and he will become your servant for life. And treat your maidservant the same way.

I used to sit at the governing body table for all my meals while I was in Bethel. As I remember, most of the wives were very nice (think circuit overseer's wives) but there was an "air" about a few of them (one in particular) that let you know that you were beneath their radar. I won't mention any names but her initials were/are Marina Sydlik.
In terms of being superior/privileged, the ones who seemed the worst back then were the wife's of the Overseers in the factory or "Bethel Elders". In the basement there was a single washer and dryer for us to use because the Bethel laundry used to shrink/ruin our clothes. I used to take my nicer stuff down there and do a load once in awhile. I put my soap and clothes in the washer and walked over to the Commissary which was a few steps away, to get a snack to eat while I waited for my laundry. When I got back a few minutes later, one of the Elder's wife's had taken my sopping wet soapy clothes out of the machine and tossed them and my laundry bag, into the slop sink. She stood there with a sour look on her face as if there was no way in Hell Hades, she was going to wait around for a lowly "Bethel Boy" to do his laundry. I didn't say anything because I thought there might be some rule about not leaving the machines unattended, so I left and came back later just as she was pulling her wet stuff out of the washer and putting them into the dryer. She turned the dryer on and left ( apparently it WAS ok to leave...or maybe it was ok for HER to leave).
I resumed washing my stuff and waited there for the cycle to finish. When they were done, she hadn't returned so I took her still damp stuff out of the dryer and put it into her laundry basket and set it on the floor and put mine in the dryer. I wanted to see her face when she returned and discovered what I had done but unfortunately/fortuantely mine dried and I was outta' there before she returned but I was ready to go toe to toe with her.
I'd have gladly given up the machine and waited if she'd have asked. I couldn't believe that something this petty was happening at Bethel....they never mentioned this kind of stuff in the brochure ! This was one of many things that happened there (including having my room robbed) that told me something was very wrong with this organization and Jehovah wasn't watching.
To answer the original question, I think they'd more likely tweak the scriptures or come up with "new light" to justify their lifestyle, than they'd be to give up their luxuries. Right now, I'm sure they feel that their looking and having the best, reflects well on the organization and brings glory to or vindicates Jehovah's name.
blonde jokes.. two blondes went to the pound where each adopted a puppy.
the joy of their new best friend was quickly overshadowed when they got home and the first blonde said, "i think we're in trouble, how are we going to tell them apart?
" this lead to several hours of concentration until finally, the second blonde said, "i've got an idea.
As a blonde male I don't mind blonde jokes because they provide dingy run of the mill dark haired individuals (who typically have low self-esteem), with an opportunity to feel superior to someone else for once in their lives. More importantly, these jokes are typically aimed at blonde women and that's as it should be. ( kidding)
Example:
A blond woman speaking to a ventriloquist who's act was filled with blonde jokes :
Blonde: "I’ve heard enough of your stupid blonde jokes. What makes you think you can stereotype women that way? What does the color of a person’s hair have to do with her worth as a human being? It’s men like you that keep women like me from being respected at work and in the community and from reaching our full potential as a person. Because you and men like you continue to perpetuate discrimination against not only blondes, but women in general, and all in the name of humor!"
Ventriloquist: "I'm sorry ma'am but..."
Blonde: "You stay out of this, mister ! I’m talking to that little idiot on your knee!!
it was nauseating to listen to the book study the past week on zoom.
old timers, and elders who have served for decades took the change of the vision in ezekiel chapter 40 thru 48 without blinking an eye.
just drank it down.
On this site we talk a lot about the Watchtower Society being a big business that is more concerned with property, money, control and their reputation, than it is in understanding the Bible no matter the cost or how it makes them look.
It always surprises me that rather than leaving well enough alone, they concern themselves with updating the interpretations of these visions that most JW's don't care or even know about. Are they concerned with accuracy or could it be that the new version will somehow give them a way to scare currents into into staying where they are and doing so will make it look as if they're "inspired men" who've still got it going on in terms of delving into the "deep" matters of the Bible?
my studying consists of skimming the article.
this one starts with 2017 don't give up convention.
at the time i changed it to i give up.
Most inane comment: "If armageddon came 100 years ago we wouldnt be here"
Unless good intentions would have been enough for God at Armageddon, if it came 100 years ago, the JW's living then wouldn't have made it. Most all of the supposedly inspired proclamations they were making to the world, were untrue and had to be changed later. If good intentions would have been enough for God to spare JW's at Armageddon, then the rest of those who were part of what JW's deemed as "false religion", would have been spared as well.
in the latest jw broadcast, anthony morris the turd gives a talk about donations.
to camouflage this, he starts and ends the talk by saying that isn't actually what he's doing.
first he starts with the usual disclaimer, 'wt has never begged for money like christendom and we never will', you know the drill.
Wasn’t there someone on the forum that used to drop an IOU in the contribution box with a note that said something to the effect “I’ll contribute actual cash once we’re provided with a detailed report showing exactly what the society is spending our contributions on” ?
I always liked that idea.
so my jw father is sick.
my mother uses the opportunity to try and preach to my 16 year old daughter.
i simply told my mother to: "please refrain from trying to lure *my daughter* in with jehovah's witness questioning.
So you go right ahead on deaths road and take your children with you. I'm thankful to Jehovah for the children & grandchildren that Jehovah has given me as He promised. They soothe my heart for the ones I've lost.
You: This is exactly the hateful imbalanced nonsense I'm trying to shield my daughter from. On one hand you try to sound like a loving Christian grandmother and then you go off on some fanatic sounding tirade about "Magic, Aaron's sons being put to death, your lost grandchildren, my supposed Apostasy, Satan's offers etc. You sound as if you've already condemned us to death for God, as if you have such a choice or authority. Thankfully for all of us, you don't, besides, isn't it a sin to Judge others , lest you be Judged likewise yourself? Did you imagine that such speech wouldl somehow draw us back to your religion? It has done the opposite.
I am going to consider your last correspondence as a one-off and although you had good intentions, you let your emotions get the best of you. Again, you are welcome to communicate with my children as long as you respect my wishes where religion is concerned. This is no different than what you would have expected from someone of another religion, when speaking to me when I was a child.
P.S. You might want to do a little research on the topic of Apostasy and the meaning of the word and how it doesn't apply to me. Also check the origin of the name Jehovah and you'll find that Jehovah isn't God's name and perhaps as the creator of the universe, he doesn't appreciate being called by his first name especially if it's being mispronounced.
which one do you prefer?
zoom meetings or at the kingdom hall?
.
From what I gather from "IN" relatives, they like Zoom. My 39 year old SIL said, "Zoom is awesome...you watch a few videos, sing a song, have a prayer and you're done". As she said the word "done", she brushed her hands together as one does when they're done with an unpleasant task.
Others are enjoying only having to get dressed from the waist up and they don't miss the commute back and forth to the Hall. 'What a loving arrangement from the Brothers during these dangerous times.'
sometime within the last 2 weeks, someone took a sledgehammer to the pyramid monument in allegheny.
they stole the topstone, smashed the cross and crown emblem and removed the seal.. personally i'm surprised it lasted this long untouched.
although through the years russell's grave has been vandalized, it was always repaired by the bible students..
The poster must have made a typo or misstated. Rutherford was in prison for a period, but never Russell.
Yes...thank you dropoff that is correct. WT Headquarters, which had been temporarily located in Pittsburg, was moved back to NY when Rutherford went to prison. Good catch St George, sorry for the confusion.
I located the website where I first saw this information, way back when. https://truthhistory.blogspot.com/2014/09/a-short-history-of-united-cemeteries.html
